THE MISSION STATEMENT OF ELIZABETH BAPTIST CHURCH

“To lovingly lead lost individuals into a relationship with Jesus Christ and to develop mature believers.”

OUR VISION AND VALUES

We envision Elizabeth Baptist Church becoming one of the South’s leading ministries for life transformation around the world. We envision providing excellence in culturally relevant, Bible-centered preaching and teaching, contemporary worship and praise, as well as conveying God’s love through the means of innovative and impactful ministries. We envision becoming a dynamic spiritual community where thousands of members are transformed into mature followers of Jesus Christ, demonstrating His love for humanity by leading others into a personal relationship with Christ, serving our society as servant-leaders ministering to the spiritual, social, economic, and life developmental needs of people in every age and stage of life; and extending His Kingdom from southwest Atlanta to the ends of the globe.

We see a day when…

Every ministry of Elizabeth Baptist Church is characterized by excellence in Christian service.

Elizabeth Baptist Church increases its local, regional, national and international impact through the use of media and other means of effective ministry.

There are over 10,000 members actively involved in Worship Services weekly.

The facilities of Elizabeth Baptist Church are expanded to a state of the art structure that will accommodate the accelerated growth of the membership and used for community and family development.

Thousands of volunteers are equipped and serving in ministries of Discipleship, Evangelism, Worship, Service and Community Fellowship.

Quality ministries and services are established and tailored to provide our seniors with an environment of Christian care and dignity conducive for their enjoyment of the best quality of life in their golden years.

Legacy Christian Academy is expanded as a school of excellence educating students from elementary to middle school from a Christian worldview in a spirit of excellence in quality instruction.

Members are sponsored and commissioned as short and long-term Missionaries of Elizabeth serving overseas and across the United States.

Churches are intentionally started to reach those who have a better chance of being served through new contemporary fellowships.

Elizabeth Baptist Church participates in community development initiatives and establishes centers of outreach for those disenfranchised physically, emotionally, and spiritually; helping them to experience the transforming power of God and to become spiritually productive members of society and the Kingdom of God.

Elizabeth Baptist Church becomes one of the leading church providers of exceptional ministry to children and youth.

Cooperative ministries with churches in foreign countries are expanded to assist ministries on other continents in reaching those in their immediate area with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

OUR CORE VALUES

We Value Bible-Centered Preaching & Teaching

We believe that the Bible is the infallible, inerrant, immutable, authoritative Word of God. We strive therefore to preach and teach the Bible as God’s Word and the trustworthy rule for faith and practice (II Timothy 3:16-4:2).

We Value People

We recognize the eternal value God places on every person and commit ourselves to love and care for others as humans created in His image. We further seek to fulfill Christ’s great commandment to love our neighbors as we love ourselves, and to love one another as Christ loves us (Mark 12:31; John 13:34-35).

We Value Servant Leadership

We believe that church leaders are, above all, servants of our Lord Jesus Christ. We recognize that servant leaders are to watch over our souls and that spirit-filled, godly Pastors are an invaluable asset of the church (Matthew 20: 25-28; Hebrews 13:17).

We Value Christian Education for All Ages

We believe that understanding Scripture is a catalyst for transforming, enhancing, and growing lives; therefore we are committed to the ministry of Christian Education as an indispensable foundational ministry that must undergird all other ministries of the church (II Timothy 3: 14-17; Psalm 1, 119; Nehemiah 8:8).

We Value Committed Christian Discipleship

We believe that Christ’s command to “make disciples” is the mission of the church. It is our primary goal to equip the church for this work and fulfill this commission of developing mature followers of Christ (Matthew 28:19-20; Ephesians 4:12).

We Value Giving & Tithing

We recognize that ministry cost and that giving may be one of the most tangible expressions of our faith. We believe Christians should give generously, consistently, and proportionately to the local church as God’s instrument to continue His earthly ministry (Malachi 3:10; II Corinthians 9:6-8).

We Value Praise & Worship

We believe that we are created to glorify God and an expression of this is our acknowledgement of His supreme value and worth in our personal lives and in the corporate, contemporary praise and worship of the church (Acts 2:47; Ephesians 5:18-20; Psalm 150).

We Value Fellowship & Community

We recognize the church as a community of believers whose fellowship is enriched by their relationship with Christ and one another. We are committed to assembling ourselves together for worship, fellowship, encouragement, and service (Acts 2:42; Hebrews 10:24-25).

We Value Evangelism

We believe that Christ demonstrated His great love for the lost and has commissioned His church to follow His example of pursuing, winning, and making disciples of all men (Luke 19:10; John 20:21; II Corinthians 5:14-20).

We Value Cultural Relevance & Biblical Authority

We believe the Bible is timeless and timely, and that cultural relevance is necessary to meet the contemporary needs of mankind. Therefore, while changing our methods to minister to others we remain committed to the unchanging message of the Word of God, allowing our doctrinal foundation to guide our contemporary ministry of music, arts, advertisements, preaching, teaching etc. (I Corinthians 9:19-23;II Timothy 4:2-5).
